The next generation of accelerators will have to master high power beams. Conceptual and engineering challenges of collimator systems, beam absorbers and secondary particle production targets will be addressed.
Today's beam intercepting components cope with beams in the kW range. Those of future neutrino factories, spallation sources and compact linear colliders will be exposed to beam energies in the MW range, and will require handling the risks of high energy densities, elevated radiation doses, acoustic vibrations and liquid metals.
