Deep inside the proton: the unpolarised and polarised proton structure

CERN Accelerating science

During the last few years the measurements of both the polarised and unpolarised structure of the proton have become increasingly more precise. HERA proton structure function measurements are very relevant for parton scattering processes at the LHC. How precise do we know the structure of the proton? Furthermore, do we understand the polarised proton data, or is there still a spin puzzle?
